RHRC LAAYOUNE-ESSMARA DISCUSSES VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN IN SCHOOLS

The Regional Human Rights Commission (RHRC) of Laayoune-Essmara, in partnership with several Exterior Services in the city of Laayoune (southern Morocco), held a meeting on the phenomenon of violence against children in schools, on January 18, 2013, at the Regional Academy of Education and Training in Laayoune.

The gathering was led by Abdelhak Kamime, children rights expert working for the National Human Rights Council (CNDH). It aimed to raise awareness about violence against children, particularly in schools, and discuss the causes and conditions that help propagate the phenomenon. The meeting also shed light on the possible ways to fight the phenomenon and protect children against violence, through the intensified efforts of all stakeholders concerned (teachers and educational staff, elected councils, etc.)

The Commission of Laayoune-Essmara organized on January 17, 2013 an activity for students at Allal Ben Abdellah High School, to raise awareness about the subject. The activity was organized in partnership with the Reading Club of the school. It was supervised by the same expert.
