Driss El Yazami, President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) took part in the inaugural ceremony of the WebTV “Oxygène for rights and freedoms”. This event was organized by the Mediator for Democracy and Human Rights (Moroccan NGO) on 31 March 2018 in Salé, Morocco.

At the opening of his statement, the CNDH Chairperson highlighted the importance of the initiative of the Mediator for Democracy and Human Rights. He also expressed his trust in young people who provided considerable efforts to ensure the success of this project.

On this occasion, he declared that Morocco needs to mobilize every potential to meet the aspirations of citizens for a decent life and ensure that they enjoy their fundamental rights as provided by the Constitution and international conventions. He also stressed the importance of the role of young people and recalled that they are the pillars of every change likely to ensure progress and prosperity.

On the other hand, Khadija Merouazzi, Secretary General of the Mediator for Democracy and Human Rights hailed the cooperative relationship between the association, the CNDH and the United Nations Fund for Democracy which guaranteed this project to see the light. Launched two years ago, this project has benefited about 100 young men and women from different regions of Morocco and provided them with skills and techniques to produce TV programs focused on rights and freedoms. It also allowed them to contribute to the emergence of a new generation of young media professionals.
