CCDH Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Foreign Laboratory
As part of following up the implementation of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER), including mainly the establishment of truth, the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) signed a memorandum of understanding with a French laboratory specialized in genetic and nuclear testing.This memorandum will make it possible to conduct genetic and/or nuclear testings on samples of remains of a group of victims of past gross human rights violations in order to compare them with tests on members of their families to determine their identities.
It should be noted that the two national laboratories, namely that of the scientific police and that of the Royal Gendarmerie had contributed to the analysis of samples carried out on skeletal remains of a group of victims, and analysis of salivary samples of family members.
The new Memorandum of Understanding provides for conducting the analysis in collaboration with theses two national laboratories within a reasonable time meeting the expectations of families.
