Mrs. Assia El Ouadie

Mrs. El Ouadie was born in 1949 in Safi.

Mrs. El Ouadie, holder of a BA in law from the Casablanca Faculty of Law in 1970, was a judge at the public prosecutor’s department of the Casablanca Court of First Instance from 1971 to 1980. After performing a training at the Ecole Supérieure de Magistrature (Higher School of Magistrates) in Paris, she joined the Bar of Settat (1981-1984) and that of Casablanca (1984-2000), then she became a magistrate in 2000 within the Penitentiary Administration, where she was in charge of centres for reform and re-education of minors.

Mrs. El Ouadie is a founding member and Secretary General of the Observatoire marocain des prisons (Moroccan Observatory for Prisons).

Mrs. El Ouadie is an active member in several organizations of civil society, including the Fondation Mohammed VI pour la réinsertion des détenus (Mohammed VI Foundation for Prisoner Rehabilitation). She is also a founding member of the Association des Amis des centres de réforme (Friends of Reform Centres Association), the Moroccan Organization for Human Rights (OMDH) (1988) and member of the Association du centre d’écoute et d’orientation pour femmes battues (Listening and Referral Centre for Battered Women).

Mrs. El Ouadie is mother of two children.
